Wenlong Li is an International Alliance of Early Cancer Detection (ACED) Early Career.

Pathway Fellow in the Biffi lab at the Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute, University of Cambridge. He received my master’s degree in Clinical Pharmacology from Shandong University, China. He undertook his doctoral training with Dr. Alfred Schinkel and Prof Jos Beijnen at the Netherlands Cancer Institute (NKI), Amsterdam.
During this period, he furthered his interest in Pharmacology by focusing on the roles of drug transporters and metabolizing enzymes in pharmacokinetics, as well as efficacy and safety profiles of anticancer drugs. Afterwards, in 2022, he relocated to Cambridge, UK to pursue his postdoctoral research. His main research focus is on dissecting the fibroblast biology in inflammatory and malignant states of the pancreas to identify the unique features of cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs), which could represent novel biomarkers for earlier detection of pancreatic cancer. He is also interested in understanding how tumour microenvironment is shaped by the genetic profile of pancreatic cancer cells, in order to stratify patients and provide them with more effective personalized therapy.
