Robert Grützmann
Prof. Dr. med. Robert Grützmann, MBA is Professorand Chair of Surgery at the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nurembergand Director of the Department of Surgery at University Hospital Erlangen, Germany. He is a board-certified specialist in general, visceral, and vascular surgery and internationally recognized for his expertise in pancreatic surgery, particularly in the treatment of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, IPMN, and neuroendocrine tumors.
Before his appointment in Erlangen, Prof. Grützmann led the Pancreatic Cancer Center and the Department of Vascular Surgery at University Hospital Dresden. He was an early pioneer of minimally invasive and robotic pancreatic surgery, including the Da Vinci system, and has extensive experience invascular resections with complex arterial and venous reconstructions.
His research interests include pancreatic tumor biology, surgical oncology, advanced operative techniques, and health services research. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters in the field of pancreatic diseases and serves on multiple national guideline and advisory boards.
Prof. Grützmann is spokesperson of the Erlangen Pancreatic Cancer Center. His scientific achievements have been recognized with several awards, and he is regularly listed among Germany’s leading gastrointestinal surgeons by FOCUS magazine.
