Mariano Ponz-Sarvise
Mariano Ponz-Sarvise earned his medical degree (2004) and doctorate (2011) in Medicine from the University of Navarra. He became a specialist in Medical Oncology in 2009 at the Clínica Universidad de Navarra. Subsequently, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center (Houston, TX) (Dr. Mien Chie Hung, 2011-2012). After his time in Houston, he started as a Clinical Fellow at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (NY, USA) with Dr. Dave Tuveson (2012-2015). During his postdoctoral training, he focused on studying pancreatic adenocarcinoma and completed a short stay at MSKCC (New York, USA), under the supervision of Dr. Kenneth Yu. In October 2015, he joined the Department of Medical Oncology at the Cancer Center Clínica Universidad de Navarra (CCUN) as a collaborator in the area of Gastrointestinal tumors. He is currently Attending Physician and HPB head in the Medical Oncolgy department and Co-PI of the Pancreatobiliary Group at CCUN dedicated to the treatment of pancreatic and biliary tract tumors. He is also part of the Solid Tumor Program at the Center for Applied Medical Research (CIMA, University of Navarra) where he is co-PI of the Oncogenes and Effector Targets group. He is PI for multiple clinical trials both in early and late stages.
