Dra Maria Inês Antunes completed her medical degree at Lisbon Medical School, University of Lisbon (1999–2005), and passed the United States Medical Licensing Examination® (USMLE) Step 1 and Step 2CK during her studies. She undertook her general residency and specialization in Radiation Oncology at Hospital de Santa Maria in Lisbon (2006–2010), including a fellowship at Saint Luc University Hospital in Brussels (2008). She received her board certification in Radiation Oncology in 2011.

She worked as a consultant in Hospital do Espírito Santo (Évora, PT) from 2011 to 2018, and since then has been part of the Radiation Oncology team at the Champalimaud Foundation in Lisbon.

Dra Maria Inês Antunes is an active member of several national and international societies, including SPRO, APNO, GECP, GECCP, ESTRO, SEOR, ESMO, and EORTC Gynecologic and Lung Cancer Groups. She has been involved in multiple clinical trials and is currently the principal investigator of two ongoing radiotherapy studies.

She has presented her work at numerous national and international congresses and is the author and co-author of several scientific publications. In recent years, her clinical and research focus has been on gastro intestinal and gynecological malignancies, with a strong commitment to following the latest innovations in modern radiotherapy techniques and treatment personalization.
