Christoph Springfeld holds an M.D. from Heidelberg University and a Ph.D. from the Open University, UK. He was trained in Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology and Hematology/Oncology at Heidelberg University Hospital and was a research fellow at Mayo Clinic Rochester, USA in the group of Roberto Cattaneo where he worked on Measles Virus and oncolytic therapy.

He is now an attending in the Department of Medical Oncology at the National Center for Tumor Diseases at Heidelberg University Hospital. His responsibilities include pancreatic cancer and liver cancer. He is focusing on innovative clinical studies, especially regarding targeted therapy and immunotherapy in gastrointestinal cancers.
