Benedikt Brors

Benedikt Brors studied chemistry and graduated from University of Düsseldorf, Germany, with a PhD in biochemistry. He then joined the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) in Heidelberg, Germany, first as a postdoctoral fellow in bioinformatics, later as a group leaeder in Computational Oncolog. Since 2014, he is heading the Division Applied Bioinformatics, DKFZ, and holds a professorship at Heidelberg University. He is a member of the Faculty of the German Cancer Consortium (DKTK) and vice speaker of the DKTK Translational Research Center Heidelberg. He has been involved in multiple cancer genomics projects in the International Cancer Genome Consortium, in the German contribution to the International Human Epigenome Consortium, in the Pan-cancer Analysis of Whole Genomes project and in the Pan-prostate Cancer Genomics Group. His interests are in computational cancer genomics, transcriptomics and epigenomics, single-cell analysis of the tumor microenvironment, cancer evolution and application of AI and machine learning algorithms to cancer research.
