Alessio Marchetti
Alessio is a physician specialized in General Surgery. He graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Florence (110/110 cum laude) and completed his residency in General Surgery at the University of Verona (70/70 cum laude). Subsequently, he completed a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in the Division of Hepatopancreatobiliary Surgery at NYU Langone Health (New York) under the mentorship of Prof. Christopher Wolfgang. He iscurrently a Research Fellow in the Hepato-Bilio-Pancreatic and Liver Transplant Surgery Unit at the University Hospital of Padova under the mentorship of Prof. Giovanni Marchegiani.
His research focuses on pancreatic surgery, with particular interests in postoperative outcomes, postoperative pancreatic fistula, vascular resection, and risk stratification in patients with pancreatic cancer. He has authored more than 24 peer-reviewed publications in international journals, including Annals of Surgery, Surgery, HPB, and Annals of Surgical Oncology, and has presented his work at several international meetings, including EAHPBA, AHPBA, IHPBA, the Pancreas Club, and the European Pancreatic Club. He has also advanced expertise in statistical analysis using R, including multivariable modeling, survival analysis, and meta-analysis. Starting in October 2026, Alessio will begin a PhD program at the University of Padova, continuing his research in hepato-bilio-pancreatic surgery.
