Adrian Billeter
Adrian Billeter studied medicine in Zurich and received his doctoral degree from the University of Zurich. After a few years as resident at the University Hospital Zurich, he finished a PhD Degree at the University of Louisville and completed a research fellowship at the Hiram C. Polk Jr. Department of Surgery in Louisville. After the research fellowship, he finished his residency at the University Hospital Heidelberg and worked there as an attending surgeon. He received his habilitation (venia legendi) and professor for surgery at the University of Heidelberg. Since December 2022, he serves as the Vice Chair of Abdominal Surgery at the University Hospital Basel and is the head of pancreatic surgery. He focuses on oncologic surgery of the abdomen with particular focus on pancreatic surgery including vascular resections and robotic surgery of the pancreas and upper-GI tract. His research focuses on personalized treatment and oncologic outcomes of pancreatic cancer surgery such as selection of patients for advanced resections and treatment response using translational techniques.
